On Tuesday, 8.23.11, Blake bonked his head on the tile. And like usual he got a big lump.
We emailed our amazing hematology staff pics of Blake's noggin and the plan was to treat daily until the swelling went down. As the week approached, the swelling did seem to go down a bit.
Then at church on Sunday, Blake fell off a chair & directly on his bump.
By Monday morning his right eye was swollen and the lump was big again.
So, we emailed these pics to Nurse J and Dr. M.

They didn't like the swelling paired with the re-injury on Sunday. So to the ER we went to rule out a skull fracture.
The ER staff was so awesome! We got right in. They got Blake on the monitor so they could give the versed and get him to CT asap. Blake wasn't too impressed with all the attention he was getting. Little stinker had gotten up early today and totally missed his AM nap...so he was not a happy camper.

I got to tag along as he went to CT...he was so good! Watching the scan...I could see the large hematoma on the front of his head...but it seemed to be only outside of his skull.
Back in the ER, Dr. W told us there was no fracture (YAY!!) and we were good to go when Blake began to wake up. So, we let the little guy sleep. Rustin brought his laptop and worked on homework while I clipped Blake's finger and toenails! (If only he could have a little versed every time his nails needed trimming...)

Blake fell asleep in Rustin's arms before they gave the versed.
Which was nice because they didn't have to use as much sedation.

Poor kid :( I've actually heard that if there is a bump you can see that there is less of a chance of damage inside the head. It's the ones that don't swell you have to worry about. Not sure if it's true or not, but glad to hear he's ok!!

Oh my stars falling off a chair and hitting the same bonk. OUCH! That made my stomach drop as I read it. I'm loving his :0 face! Turning into quite the toe-head!
man oh man...I'm so very sorry you guys had to have another ER visit...glad he's ok though
He sure does know how to bump his head!! Logan seems to always scratch, bump, jam, bash his little left hand. It always has bruises and owies on it!
So glad he's okay. He's such a trooper. And a eater!
