Today we got a phone call from Dr M, saying Blake's pre infusion factor level was 5% after 48 hours of factor administration! Meaning...we can now go to every other day treatments. With that news come mixed feelings...excitement that his body isn't burning through the administered factor super fast like previous lab work showed (meaning his ability to clot is better longer), and worry that we won't have that comfort knowing he'll be okay if he falls on a non-treatment day (since blood factor levels will be lower than with his daily treatments).
Here's to hoping he only falls on treatment days! Keepin my fingers crossed!!
Today, was also the first time I tried a peripheral stick on Blake. We used a foot vein...because it was big and juicy even without a tourniquet. I got in on the first try...but dummy me forgot to release the tourniquet and when I tried push the factor in I saw blood pooling under his skin at the insertion site. DUH!
Poor kid.
Needless to say, Blake got his factor through his Broviac line.

Also...notice his latest trick...he thinks he can climb out of his crib.
We've caught him completely off the mattress and clinging onto the side rails.
Not cool.

He is too funny! Chase started climbing out at that age. We just went with it and lowered the railing all the way to the floor and taught him how to climb out safely. We figured it was either that, or he'd come crashing to the floor. It was a lose-lose situation.
