On 4.20.10, Blake was diagnosed with severe hemophilia.
The day before, we met pediatric hematologist, Dr. D and nurse Kim at the hemophilia treatment center at UC Davis. Cord blood drawn at birth was inconclusive for a diagnosis, so Blake had a blood draw to check his factor VIII level, which came back as <1%.
(waiting to see the MD, notice the green plaque on the wall...hee hee)
Blake was such a trooper during the blood draw...he only cried when we unswaddled him and straightened his arm. Look at that teeny gauze and sad face! =(
We know hemophilia will be a challenge in Blake's life, but we are lucky to a good team of caregivers, family, and friends that will help us along the way!
Blake is now rocking a Medic Alert bracelet that he wears on his ankle!
