The MD said the surgery went really well, like he had mentioned before. He discussed how he sutured the torn meniscus and how he removed the "weird" tissue. Turns out the "weird" tissue is a benign tumor caused by Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis or PVNS.
The doctor had suspected the tissue to be PVNS prior to surgery and this was confirmed with the pathology report. There are two types of PVNS...Rustin's "weird" tissue being the less common of the two called nodular or localized PVNS. The MD said PVNS is really rare and he'd never seen a case of it. But he is confident he removed all of the tumor-like tissue. Phew!
Rustin also met with the Physical Therapist who gave him a few exercises to do at home. He's been getting around with his trusty crutches and total leg brace. Things are looking up!
We are so happy to FINALLY be on the road to recovery.

Okay did he know Charlie here at work just had his knee surgery too. But of limpys walking around this place. Holy tumor, glad it wasn't serious but what the tumor? on the back of the knee?
I'm so glad things are turning around. Is he gonna have radiation on his knee?
Holy Smokes Rustin.... it really was a tumor. Schwarzenegger doesn't know what he is talking about. I'll shave my head bald in support of you. Hope it heals well.
