Blake at 21 months
...Crazy about "shooooooes." He wants them on at all times. Insists on changing shoes if he sees a pair not on his feet...SO all his shoes are hiding above the washer & dryer! Loves to clomp around in momma or daddy's shoes and gets mad if they don't cooperate while he puts them on (usually boots, heels, or Rustin's basketball shoes!)
...Speaking of basketball...Blake is now pretty in to basketball & football. He's got a pair of jammies covered in footballs and he goes crazy whenever they're on! Instead of always asking for "Caaaahrrs" on TV he'll ask for "baball" or "fooball!" He loves shooting hoops with Rustin and cheers everytime a basket is made, "YEEEEAHHHHH!" He also loves to kick balls back & forth in the front room. (Many times the Christmas tree orrnaments got in on this!)
...Still LOVES anything with wheels and prefers to drive them on an elevated surface in order to watch the wheels turn. Since being one handed these days...he's gotten pretty tricky spinning the wheels while holding the car in his hand. He's also figured out how to carry more than one car at a time.
...Just recently he's been pretty interested in "trains"! We can hear the trains pretty good at our house and he'll let us know whenever one is going through town! I just bought him Thomas the Train jammies and as soon as he saw them he yelled, "Train! Train!! On ON!" ("On on" is also his new way of saying "On"...we think it's from the blinking Christmas lights we had in our window.) His toothpaste tube has a train on it and he always says "Bye bye train!" when we put it back in the drawer.
...LOVES "dum" aka gum. He chews it like crazy and throws it in the garbage when he's done! It's so funny to see this little man chomping on a half of piece! And lately he's in to sucking on food...let me explain. If you give him a fruit snack, or PEZ, or gummy vitamin, or beef jerky, or other random food bites...he'll suck on them until they are gone! It's so funny because he won't talk when it's in his mouth...so sometimes he'll get mad or sad while sucking and we just hear a muffled whimper. Silly kid!
..."Outside" is his favorite place to be. He could go for walks all day. He loves to hear the dogs bark as he runs by their fences or watch the "caaahrrs" & "tucks" drive by, and of course hear the occasional train. He's also quite the airplane spotter...usually we don't even hear them until he stops and looks up into the sky! But just being in the backyard playing is not "outside" to Blake...he wants to be walking around the block on the sidewalk.
...Not too fond of nursery. Or anything that involves being without mom or dad. Although I think he'd prefer daddy most of the time.
...Quite the dancer. We listen to a lot of Pandora around here and he loves the toddler, ACDC, and Glee radio stations. The other day on the toddler station, a song from the movie Cars came on...it was fun to watch him as he recognized it and watch his little expression say, 'hey, I know this song...it's from my favorite movie!!'
...Still sleeps in his crib, although we're thinking about making the switch?!?!? He goes to bed around 7pm and sleeps until about 6:30-7am! His one nap averages about 2 hours just after lunch. He goes down really easy most night (we are SOOO lucky!) Before he goes to bed he says "bye bye" to just about everything, turns off all the lights, lets us brush his teeth (he makes the noise daddy's electric toothbrush makes), then we turn on his music, humidifier if he's sniffy, and then projector thingy. He must have a car, if not two, in hand and his car blanket snuggled by his face. Also important to note...there can be NO cars (or toys) visible from the crib or Blake will scream for it to be picked up. Oh, and if you're laying him down...sometimes tries to sneak one on you by saying "Eat?" ever so sweetly, like you're putting him to bed hungry...just so he can stay up a little longer. We don't fall for it anymore. =]
...Says "eat" so so cute!! Biggest accent on the 'T' it kills me every time!
...Has the cutest underbite when he smiles his silly smile or gives his mischievous smirk.
